In this area, there are cool, wet bamboo forests that are perfect for the Giant Panda's needs. The Giant Panda is native to the high-mountain bamboo forests of western China. As of 2014 the wild Panda population is limited to the Quinling and the Minshan mountain ranges. The growth of the human population brings Giant Pandas to approximately 20 areas.
Defense Mechanisms |
Giant Pandas face very few predators. The predators include jackals, snow leopards and yellow-throated martens, all of which are capable of killing and eating Panda cubs. For Pandas, the most dangerous are humans. Humans have intruded on their habitats. Hunters have killed for both their unique coats and for meat. Deforestation for wood and land clearance for farming have also threatened Pandas.

Giant Pandas are naturally peaceful animals, but they certainly fight back when there is no other option. They express aggression by staring directly in the eyes of their enemies. Giant Pandas also use their massive physical strength to swat at their opponents. The snow leopard is a common enemy of the Giant Panda. Snow leopards prey on baby Panda cubs but do not typically attack if the mother is present, due to the fact that mother Pandas are quite aggressive when defending their young. Even though Giant Panda’s look so cuddly they still do fight back with their molar teeth and strong jaw muscles.
